MS-DOS

MS-DOS (short for Microsoft Disk Operating System) is an operating system commercialized by Microsoft. It was the most commonly used member of the DOS family of operating systems and was the dominant operating system for computers based on the Intel 8086 family of microprocessors, particularly the IBM PC and compatibles, during the 1980s. It was gradually replaced on consumer desktop computers by operating systems offering a graphical user interface (GUI), in particular by various generations of the Microsoft Windows operating system. It was originally known as QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System) and 86-DOS.

MS-DOS was originally released in 1981 and had eight major versions released before Microsoft stopped development in 2000. It was the key product in Microsoft's growth from a programming languages company to a diverse software development firm, providing the company with essential revenue and marketing resources. It was also the underlying basic operating system on which early versions of Windows ran as a GUI.

Rescue lost files from a bad or trashed CD or DVD or a Blu Ray disc (e.g. BD or HD DVD). Save important documents, precious pictures or video from the family, your only system backup, ... IsoBuster can do it all !

IsoBuster is a highly specialized yet easy to use optical media data recovery tool. It supports all optical disc formats and all common optical disc file-systems. Start up IsoBuster, Insert a disc, select the drive (if not selected already) and let IsoBuster mount the media. IsoBuster immediately shows you all the tracks and sessions located on the media, combined with all file-systems that are present. This way you get easy access, just like explorer, to all the files and folders per file-system. Instead of being limited to one file-system that the OS picks for you, you have access to "the complete picture". Access data from older sessions, access data that your OS (e.g. Windows) does not see or hides from you etc.

IsoBuster full feature list:

  • Data recovery from all possible CD, DVD and Blu Ray (BD & HD DVD) formats :

File Type:Disk image format
Popularity:4
Category:Disk image (ISO) binary file
File Description:This image is 143388 bytes in size, and is a proprietary format used solely by the Apple II Emulator for Windows. According to the "Apple II Emulator for Windows" help file this format adds a file header separated from the data section of the disk-image by two bytes with value 26 (1Ah). This binary format is used to store non copy-protected images. This format is used solely by the Apple II Emulator for Windows, and is recognised by a .A4W extension. Since no FTP sites store disk-images in A4W format, there is currently no need for a program to convert A4W back to DO or NDO formats.

A2 Oasis for Windows supports the old 8-bit Apple II software under Windows. It is a program group including A2 Oasis Emulator, Disk Manager, and Disk Server.

A2 Oasis supports the following disk image types: A4W, DSK, DO, NIB, HDV. There are some subtypes of the DSK disk image format. DSK and DO images must be exactly 143,360 bytes long to work under A2 Oasis. You can use CANONDSK program to fix the file size of all DSK/DO files which are rejected by the emulator. Disk images with .BIN suffix can also be converted using CANONDSK program - for such images enable "Keep last 140K" option.

File Description:DAEMON Tools is an advanced application for Microsoft Windows which provides one of the best optical media emulation in the industry.
With DAEMON Tools you can back up your physical CD/DVD/HD DVD/Blu-ray discs into “virtual discs” or so called “disc image” files, which run directly on your hard drive. You can also work with images created by other burning programs! DAEMON Tools supports variety of image types. Use CD/DVD image converter to have one format images in your Image Catalog!
A virtual disc has much better access rates than a physical one in a corresponding physical drive because the reading speed of a virtual CD/DVD/HD DVD/Blu-ray-ROM is 50x faster compared to normal drive.
With DAEMON Tools you would receive up to 32 virtual SCSI drives and 2 virtual IDE drives that behave just like the “real” physical ones.
No more CD/DVD drive noise. No waiting for disc loading. No need to buy external optical drive for your netbook. DAEMON Tools enables you to use your CD/DVD images as if they were already burned to CD/DVD.

DAEMON Tools

Advanced application for multiprotection emulation DAEMON Tools is an advanced application for multiprotection emulation.

DAEMON Tools is further development of the Generic Safedisc emulator incorporating all its features. This program allows running backup copies of SafeDisc (C-Dilla), Securom or Laserlock protected games.

Also included is a Virtual DVDROM drive (V386 STEALTH DVDROM) enabling you to use your CD images as if they were already burned to CD.

DAEMON Tools works under Windows9x/ME/NT/2000/XP with all types of CD/DVDROM drives (IDE/SCSI) and supports nearly any CD protection.

· DAEMON Tools needs a 1:1 Copy to run!!
· DAEMON Tools is used to RUN GAMES, NOT TO BURN THEM!!! Means emulation must be active while you want to play a game, not while burning the copy (except for you want to use DAEMON Tools' "fastdump" feature on a safedisc protected CD).
· If you want to run a copy protected application from an image mounted to a Generic DVD-ROM enabling the copy protection emulation(s) is NOT necessary!!
· Generic DVD-ROM is able to run nearly every protected or unprotected CD image (Safedisc, Securom, Laserlock, Lockblocks etc.) like it was the original CD! Just do an image file using one of the supported burning programs and mount it with Daemon Manager!

  • Better Error handling and several retry-mechanisms to aid you in getting the data anyway.
  • The use of both generic and alternative ways to get to the data, get the best out of your CD/DVD-ROM drive.
